FDA Recall Pyramid Wholesale Sexual Supplements Containing Sildenafil and Tadalafil

Recall: Sexual Enhancement Supplements

In cooperation with the FDA, Pyramid Wholesale has announced a recall of eleven brand names of their dietary supplements. The supplements were marketed toward adults who wished to increase their sexual function. However, the supplements contained Sildenafil and Tadalafil, the same active drugs in Viagra and Cialis. The drugs were not declared on the packaging and may cause serious health outcomes when taken in conjunction with other prescription medications. Additionally, these drugs require a prescription.

As of the writing of this notice, no adverse events have yet been reported.

Product Description

The supplements were marketed and sold to distributors and retailers in California and other states. Each was packaged as pictured. All 11 brands are included in the recall.

Reason for Recall

While the supplements contain Sildenafil and Tadalafil, the packaging does not indicate their presence, and the company is not authorized to manufacture and distribute the substances. Additionally, the drugs are being marketed and sold without requiring a physician’s prescription.

Impacts

Tadalafil and Nortadalafil may cause serious and life-threatening medical symptoms in consumers who use them in conjunction with nitrate medications. Taking these drugs together may result in hypotension and symptoms such as weakness, lightheadedness, fainting, confusion, blurred vision, nausea, vomiting, and even DEATH. Those who take the listed medications are at highest risk of interaction:

  • Nitrolingual Pumpspray
  • Nitro-Bid
  • Nitropress
  • Nitroprusside
  • Nitro-Dur
  • Transderm-Nitro
  • Nitro-Time
  • Isosorbide Mononitrate
  • Dinitrate
  • Isordil
  • Isordil Titradose
  • Dilatrate-SR
  • Amyl Nitrite
  • Amyl Nitrate

The recall includes 11 brands distributed by Pyramid Wholesale. The notice includes all lots of the supplements. Therefore, if you possess any of the 11 sexual enhancement supplements distributed by Pyramid Wholesale, it’s imperative that you read further to follow proper protocols and participate in the recall.

Consumers

If you find that your lot of supplements is part of this recall, do the following:

  1. STOP USING THE SUPPLEMENT IMMEDIATELY!
  2. Notify your physician if you have utilized the medication and have experienced any of the symptoms listed above.
  3. Monitor your health for adverse symptoms and notify your physician if you notice any changes.

  5. If you are currently experiencing or have experienced an adverse reaction to this medication (listed above), notify your physician immediately and notify the FDA by calling 1-800-332-1088 or completing an online reporting form.
  6. Contact MedWaste Management for information and assistance with disposing of the recalled supplement.

Retailer

  1. Examine all inventory and remove stock affected by the recall immediately.
  2. Retailers with questions may contact Gamil Girges at (562)674-8725. He is available Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  3. Notify affected consumers of recalled batches that they have already or will receive.
  4. Contact MedWaste Management for information and assistance with disposing of the recalled supplement.

Wholesaler

  1. Examine all inventory and remove stock affected by the recall immediately.
