FDA Recall Methocarbamol Injection label

Product Description

Methocarbamol Injection is distributed by pharmacies nationwide. It is available only by prescription and is typically distributed to medical facilities rather than individual consumers. The packaging bears a green and white label, the drug name and dosage, and identifying information such as the lot number, NDC number, and expiration date.

Reason for Recall

A consumer took note of white particles floating in the drug vial. The particles are not expected within the drug, and healthcare professionals should avoid the administration of drugs containing them. The manufacturer and the FDA do not yet know what the particles are or how they contaminated the drug.

Impacts

Consumers who receive an injection of the particle-containing drug may experience a local reaction such as pain or swelling of the injection site. If the particles enter the bloodstream, they may lead to more serious health outcomes such as stroke or death.
